MBA8 – MIDI-THRU Splitter 8ch
go Some MIDI devices lack the MIDI-THRU sockets which are required for connecting several devices together in a ‘chain’, and where MIDI-THRU ports exist, the signal throughput may introduce time delays – so ‘chain’ performance may be unacceptable, particularly on ‘chains’ of three or more.
The preferred alternative to the problematic ‘chain’ is the ‘star’ network and more than the single MIDI-OUT will be needed, which is all that may be available on your master controller. The MIDI-THRU box solve this problem by setting up a MIDI ‘star’ system.
How does it work
This is an active 8-channel MIDI-THRU Splitter, which will convert 1x MIDI-OUT into 8x MIDI-THRU outputs that are amplified, isolated, and protected.
This 8 way MIDI Thru Splitter device outputs an exact copy of the input signal, so what goes in is what comes out of each of the MIDI-OUT ports, with NO DELAY. This device is a MIDI-STAR system that connects MIDI devices in parallel with NO LATENCY, avoiding issues associated with MIDI-Device ‘daisy-chaining’.
This device has extra protections for the day-to-day uses of live performances. It is strongly protected against supply power surges, over-voltages on the input supply, MIDI input and outputs. It is able to survive thunderstorms and mains sags/surges by cleverly using its designed electronics protections and filters. This will enable a trouble free operation at all times.
- Power requirements – 6VAC to 24VAC or 9VDC to 24VDC, 100mA, 2.1mm barrel connector, center is negative/ground
- Input/Output Sockets – 1x Input 5-pin DIN socket & 8x Outputs 5-pin DIN sockets
- Protection against: reverse power connection, power supply over voltage and surges, MIDI cable inversion/surges and noise
- LED indication – Shows that power is applied and blinks when MIDI data is received
