MIDIBUF8 – MIDI-THRU, Buffer & Isolator
Some MIDI devices lack the MIDI-THRU sockets which are required for connecting several devices together in a ‘chain’, and where MIDI-THRU ports exist, the signal throughput may introduce time delays – so ‘chain’ performance may be unacceptable, particularly on ‘chains’ of three or more.
The preferred alternative to the problematic ‘chain’ is the ‘star’ network and more than the single MIDI-OUT will be needed, which is all that may be available on your master controller. The MIDI-THRU box solve this problem by setting up a MIDI ‘star’ system.
How does it work
The MIDIBUF8 is a active 1-to-8 MIDI-THRU box, which will convert one MIDI-OUT into 8 buffered isolated parallel outs. It will provide the MIDI Master device with MIDI-THRU outputs to drive up to 8 slave devices in a ‘star’ network.
The MIDIBUF8 system provides effective physical separation between input and output with the use of High-Speed Optical Isolation, ensuring consistent performance. The MIDI-THRU system is also available as a 4-channel unit only.
This device has extra protections for the day-to-day uses of live performances. It is strongly protected against supply power surges, over-voltages on the input supply, MIDI input and outputs. It is able to survive thunderstorms and mains sags/surges by cleverly using its designed electronics protections and filters. This will enable a trouble free operation at all times.
- Power requirements – 6VAC to 24VAC or 9VDC to 24VDC, 100mA, 2.1mm barrel connector, center is negative/ground
